What are the USB options offered by the mobile when connected to a PC

With a mobile phone we can carry out practically everything we need wirelessly. Even charging is possible in more and more models that circulate in the market, but the USB ports are still in use and we can connect our mobile to a computer to carry out different tasks such as charging, or transferring photographs from one side to another.

The usual thing when we connect the mobile phone to the computer through a cable is that the phone itself shows us different options to configure the connection. The mobile wants to know what we are going to do to allow us access to different functions, and it is convenient to know what each of them does to be able to locate us more easily. Let's explain what that is about MTP, PTP, MIDI and company.

Android is a single operating system but each manufacturer customizes its proprietary layer. Hence we can find different USB connection options depending on the brand of mobile that we have in our hands. We will tell you the options of the most common brands, and adding them all we will have all the options available in the market.

We leave you a list of the most common manufacturers options when connecting your phone to a PC.

  • Xiaomi: Do not transfer data, File transfer, Transfer photos (PTP)
  • Really: Upload only, Transfer files, Transfer photos
  • Sony: File transfer, USB connection sharing, MIDI, No data transfer
  • HTC: No data transfer, File transfer, Shared connection, MIDI
  • OnePlus: File transfer, USB shared connection, MIDI, PTP, Do not transfer data
  • Samsung: Transfer files, USB modem, MIDI, Transfer images, Just charge your phone
  • Huawei:Transfer photos, Transfer files, Upload only

These are the different options that we can find when connecting our mobile phone to a computer. We have not included the options that we find in the iPhone because what Apple devices do mainly, when connecting to a computer is to search for iTunes, to operate with the mobile.
