Laptop processors that you should never buy

Laptop processors that you should never buy

The purchase of a laptop is not easy for some, and there are many models and many different processors. You may know about computing, but the portable market works differently than the desktop market.

There are certain portable processors that should never be bought because they become obsolete too early.

How to make the best decision to choose a laptop?

Define our needs

Most people are looking for a laptop that is capable of doing something specifically such as: playing video games, rendering, multi-tasking, office automation, etc. In this way we must define our needs by discarding processors that do not cover them completely.

Once we define our needs, it is possible that what we need will be more expensive according to our budget or cheaper even than we had thought. That's why we recommend you buy the equipment that really meets our needs.

Processors not very advisable

It is true that many people can use an older processor in exchange for a more attractive price, but with laptops we must take some care in this regard because we can not change the processor we want, but we will buy the equipment with that processor and He will die with it.

I do not advise you to buy previous processors because they become obsolete before the planned date, for example if you buy a 2015 processor in 2019 it will already be 4 years old and the technology to use it would be 2015, remember that technology advances very fast in these days.

If you want to locate the generation or year of the processor, it is very simple.

Copy the processor model, for example, Intel Pentium 4415Y. Paste the name in Google and search. In the first result we will find the Intel page. Here will be its technical sheet, which shows the year of the launch.

DDR4 RAM is a technology that has been with us for a while. Therefore, buying a computer with DDR3 is a bad idea, especially when we want to expand memory.

In the case of Intel, we can see laptops with 8th generation Core i5 and i7 chips very well priced because stores want to take stock. This does not mean that it is a bad purchase but the ideal would be to buy an i5-10210U or an i7-10510U, for example.

Intel Pentium 4415Y, Pentium N5000 and Celeron

They are very basic laptop processors that limit the user a lot. Being so basic, laptops powered by them will be very cheap, which makes them attractive to a certain audience. Be careful because sometimes “cheap is expensive”.

Both processors came out in 2017 and their performance is very low, limiting the possibilities in the future. Yes, today, we buy a limited laptop. What will it be like in 4 years? When we are looking for a team we have to look to the future and think about the useful life it can give us.

The Intel Celeron have been with us for many years, but with very low performance.

If you want a cheap laptop, you don't have to go to these two processors. You can find laptops with the Ryzen 3 3200U that can work and offer 3.5 GHz frequency at most.

In case you like Intel more, you have Intel Core i3 chips that are still a good purchase option compared to the Pentiums.

AMD A9-9425 and A10-9620P

Both chips are the basic options for the portable market that AMD offers. They are 2016 and 2017 processors, so they are not recommended following what we have said before. In addition, the equipment powered by them does not seem to be cheaper, so it does not seem like a good buy.

They are outdated processors that provide low performance, not being versatile in the future. In fact, you will find very few laptops that are powered by these 2 AMDs because there are better options for consumers.

If you do not like AMD, you can go to an Intel Core i3-8145U, which also works great and we find models of Acer laptops powered by this processor.
