Recycling that benefits the economy and the environment

Most of us have heard about recycling, but few know that recycling benefits the economy and the environment. It is that thing that people do when they are trying to be sustainable with or without intention. However, recycling is not just for tree lovers, it is something we should all consider for infinite reasons.

You should know that recycling saves energy and energy is expensive and is running out quickly. Recycling also benefits everyone in a different way, such as the reuse of an electronic device, some furniture or the recycling of plastic, paper and aluminum that can be reused in several companies.

Here are some reasons why it is advantageous to recycle.

1- We save money:

Recycling benefits the economy and includes a number of benefits for recyclers, such as receiving monetary compensation for delivering their materials for recycling. Although it is not a fortune to receive 5 cents for a can, but it can help us to pay some things just to store those cans.

A recycling plant is much more profitable than the management of carrying and dumping in a landfill or the incineration of garbage.

Many of the American companies save money by being part of a recycling program. In Theory, the more people they recycle, the less companies have to devote to selling their products and therefore the products would cost less.

2- Create Employment:

In 2011 it was estimated that more than 2.3 million people worked in and around the recycling business. Statistics say that for every job in waste management, there are 4 jobs in the recycling industry.

This includes people who design labels for recycling all the way to the facilities operators. Yes, there are a lot of industries that also create jobs.

This means that there are more jobs for people who are dedicated to manufacturing something new from recycled items.

3- Eliminate waste dumps:

Not only does it help communities that live near the bad smell that these large mountains of waste generate and that day by day they are filled with more potentially hazardous waste to health.

People no longer agree to put the garbage in a hole in the ground, on the contrary they prefer to see that all the food is used for compost, the cans are used to make more cans, the electronics are being stripped and used to the pieces, the paper is recycled into more paper and so on.

4- Benefits of the environment:

Some of the main benefits we get when recycling are:

  • Reduce pollution by reusing materials instead of burning them or creating new ones.
  • Greenhouse gas emissions in the United States would be reduced, if only half of the people recycled, this would be roughly like taking 25 million cars off the roads.
  • Companies producing aluminum cans, would reduce their energy consumption by 95% by producing their cans with recycled materials.
  • The savings in energy consumption in plastic plants would be up to 70%
  • The recycling of hazardous waste prevents them from seeping into the ground and prevents damage to the local ecosystems and water supply.
  • Speaking of ecosystems, recycling substantially reduces logging and mining, which are destructive to wildlife habitats.

Now we see that the benefits of recycling help us all positively. The best of all is that, with a small contribution from you, the effects are felt throughout the world. Recycling benefits the economy too. Come on, do your part now!
