What is ITAD?

What is ITAD?

From the decade of the 80s, a new culture arose, concerned with rescuing the environment and reducing the harmful effects that parts and chemicals derived from e-waste, throw into the garbage dumps of the world.

Many companies that constantly have to change their IT equipment generate an economic loss when discarding their old equipment, that's why ITAD goes into action to help them turn that loss into profits.

ITAD means: disposition of IT assets, where obsolete or unwanted equipment is taken for correct disposal in a safe and responsible manner, without affecting the environment.

Currently there are many ITAD providers, they are really helping companies minimize their costs and eliminate losses.

Companies must be able to recover their losses, and that means the cost of buying new equipment, as well as deciding what to do with recycling or resale.

When dismantling any electronic product, the pieces are classified by materials, such as metals or plastics, for subsequent reuse to manufacture new products.

There is also the reuse of complete computers, which are used both by users who do not need high performance on their computers, or for donations to non-governmental organizations and the like.

Every day there are thousands of new electronic devices that displace others that, when considered obsolete, are unconsciously discarded in the trash or accumulated without care to prevent further contamination.

The rapidity with which electronic devices are innovated and also discarded with the same promptness brings as a consequence that these devices become obsolete thus producing a new waste: e-waste, which is identified as all that waste from electronic or electrical appliances such as they are computers, cell phones, TVs, among others. This material, if not properly treated, reaches nature and contaminates it.

The idea that materials considered useless do not become a problem can be reduced by following these recommendations:

  • Do not throw the computer or cell phone in the trash or outdoor places.
  • Do not add trash volume to landfills.

The following is preferable:

  • Donate it to a person or organization that needs it and thus give it a destination that does not contribute to the pollution of our environment.
  • You can repair the device or reuse the parts you can.

The companies that specialize in this type of recycling use strict procedures for the elimination of the data in the old computers, giving an exit to these equipment and helping to improve the environment.
