Google will use recycled materials on its new devices from 2020

The company Google has always been at the forefront in terms of technology and connectivity of its devices and has now concentrated on manufacturing its next devices with recycled materials

Google has important news about its upcoming releases, not only of mobile phones, but of all its hardware products for this year and the following.

The company's next devices will be made of completely recycled materials, including the Google Home or the Pixel that were announced by the end of this 2019.

From the official Google site the Chief of Sustainability in Consumer Hardware, Anna Meegan, has stated that “From 2022, 100% of 'Made by Google' products will include recycled materials, in order to maximize the recycled content , whenever possible ”

The goal set is that by 2020 all the devices sent by the company reach net carbon dioxide emissions equal to zero, that is, they do not add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

To achieve this, you can use electric vehicles or boats instead of airplanes, avoiding emitting greenhouse gases. They could also offset emissions with environmental projects and by 2022 it is planned that each and every one of the devices in their catalog use recycled materials.

This initiative takes some time in development to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, even Google notes that between 2017 and 2018, the delivery of its products reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by up to 40 percent.

"Manufacturing these devices and bringing them to customers consumes many resources, and eliminating our old electronic devices can create a significant amount of waste," Meegan explained.

One of the members of the Google engineering team, commented, that it is very likely that the first device to be part of the project is a Google Home product, since it has been pointed out that a fabric made from recycled bottles will be used.

Apparently, the firm has been working for about two years to assess whether these types of materials are prepared to meet the design and manufacturing requirements.

The general vision aims to make the design of Google products sustainable, making its life as extensive as possible. But it is not the first company to develop devices with recycled materials, Apple has been using aluminum, tin or recycled plastic on devices such as iPhone or Mac for several years.
